High School Free Standing Portable Discus Cage
The Gill free standing discus, shot, and indoor weight cages are fabricated from 2 1â?„2" schedule 40 aluminum pipe. Net poles have 33" rolled offsets and are mounted on heavy steel bases. Bases are fitted with two ball bearing wheels, (8" for outdoor and 6" for indoor cages), which allow pole assemblies to be rocked back and easily moved. Once in position, four 5 gallon jugs, filled with water or sand, secure net poles in place. Cages employ weather treated nylon nets and vinyl coated steel net support cables to reduce net sag, ensuring maximum net height. Nets are secured to bases by replaceable shock absorbing bungee cords. Optional 8' outer barrier nets are an available accessory. The High School Free Standing Portable Discus Cage has six 14' tall aluminum net poles and weighted base assemblies. This cage can be set up to conform to the 34.92 degree throwing sector for competition (as required for the 2007 track season). The cage can also be opened up to conform to a 40 or 60 degree throwing sector for practice if field conditions allow for a much larger landing zone. The 14' tall by 55' main net is constructed of #504 weather-treated nylon netting with a breaking strength of over 200 lbs. The NCAA Free Standing Portable Discus Cage has eight 17' tall aluminum net poles and weighted base assemblies which support a 5 meter (16' 6") tall main net. The standard narrow mouth layout, (recommended by the NCAA), takes into account the narrow 34.92 degree sector and greatly reduces the possibility of an errant throw landing outside the landing sector. The cage mouth can easily be opened up for practice if field conditions allow for a larger landing zone. The 68.5' long net is constructed of 340 lb test, 42A knotless weather treated nylon.
